The defense package includes anti-tank weapons, Patriot missiles and other air defense systems.
The United States is about to announce the provision of military aid to Ukraine worth 2.3 billion, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin said, the Associated Press reported on Tuesday, July 2.
“Austin’s statement came at a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov at the Pentagon And they marked a strong response to Kyiv’s request for help in the fight against Russian troops in the Donetsk region,” said the report.
The package includes anti-tank weapons, missiles for the Patriot and other air defense systems, Austin said.
“Make no mistake, Ukraine is not alone, and the United States will never waver in its support. Together with 50 allies and partners, we will continue to provide the critical capabilities Ukraine needs to repel the aggression of Russia today and deter it tomorrow,” the Pentagon chief said.
He added that during the meeting with Umerov it was planned to discuss ways to meet Ukraine’s security needs and create forces to repel a possible Russian aggression in the future.
Let’s recall that a few days ago Ukraine and the United States discussed the supply of the Patriot. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba met with US Assistant Secretary of State James O’Brien.
