Zelensky called Canadian assistance to Ukraine one of the most tangible since the beginning of the invasion of Russian Federation troops on the territory of our country.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau discussed by telephone the strengthening of defense support for Ukraine against the backdrop of Russia’s aggression and the policy of sanctions against the aggressor country . This was announced on Sunday, June 26, by the Ukrainian leader in his video message.
During the conversation, the President thanked Justin for the help already provided – one of the tangible since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
In turn, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported that residents of the city of Aigenville in Canada collected 90,000 Canadian dollars for medical needs in Ukraine. This is more than 60,600 US dollars, or 2.16 million hryvnias.
They said the funds were raised at auction. More than 60 lots have been put up for auction: from a certificate for accommodation in an Ottawa hotel to food products. A collectible stamp was also presented, its author being a student from Ukraine, Kharkiv resident Oksana Malyar. At auction, the same stamp was sold for 1,500 Canadian dollars.
The Ministry of Health plans to use funds raised by Canadian residents to purchase medical equipment.
Currently, the Ministry of Health is preparing to purchase surgical X-ray units, which, in particular, helps to detect shrapnel wounds.
Recall that the Canadian Senate approved a bill by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau authorizing the confiscation of Russian assets.
