Right now, Russian manufacturers are experiencing logistical difficulties. Also, the country does not have its own components for winemaking.
Experts predict an increase in the value of all imported components needed for wine production in the Russian Federation, and argue that this will lead to an increase in the price of Russian wine by at least 15%. RBC reported this with reference to market participants.
Oleg Repin, head of the Association of Winegrowers and Winemakers, noted that right now Russian producers are experiencing logistical difficulties.
“This year, the retail price of domestic wine could rise by 15-20%,” he said.
Repin also says imported corks can be replaced, but it requires re -equipment of the bottling line. And the head of WineRetail’s information center, Alexander Stavtsev, believes that Russian winemakers can replace European corks with aluminum, plastic or technical fibers.
At the same time, Igor Serdyuk, a partner in the consulting company Double Magnum, said that there is only one barrel manufacturer in Russia – Fanagoria.
“Seryuk said that Russian wine makers have an” inertial “supply of necessary ingredients, raw materials and preparations and there will be no shortage of them. However, in his opinion, the Russian consumer is not ready to buy expensive Russian wine. The expert also noted that in 2021 there was a “catastrophe. “Bad yield: even then the industry expected wine prices to rise by an average of 15%,” the report said.
It will be recalled that after the start of the “special operation” in Ukraine and the sanctions imposed by Western countries, Russian citizens rushed to the shops to buy sugar, buckwheat and condoms. In some supermarkets of the country there are only battles for sugar and buckwheat.
