Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, along with politicians from the Czech Republic and Austria, is creating a new far-right faction in the European Parliament. This was reported by Euronews on Sunday, June 30.
The new alliance was called Patriots for Europe. Today, together with Orban, the corresponding manifesto was signed in Vienna by the President of the Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) Herbert Kickl and the former Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babis, leader of the ANO party. Politicians signed the Patriots for Europe manifesto in Vienna on Sunday, June 30.
All three of these parties are far right and have pro-Russian views.
“Europeans want three things: peace, order and prosperity. All they get from the current Brussels elite is war, migration and stagnation. In this situation, our responsibility is to ensure the will of the voters. Today three political parties united: the strongest party in Austria, the strongest party in the Czech Republic and the strongest party in Hungary.
According to the rules of the European Parliament, the new faction must include representatives of four more countries, as it can consist of at least 23 MEPs from seven EU states.
As you know, European Parliament elections were held in EU countries in June. According to their results, the far right slightly increased the number of seats, but still remained in the minority.
In this regard, the leaders of the EU agreed on the candidates for the positions of the heads of the main European bodies. At the same time, the current President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, retained her position.
