The first of 19 Danish F-16 fighters will be delivered to Ukraine in the summer. The planes will operate from bases in Ukraine.
Denmark has trained about one hundred Ukrainian specialists in the service of F-16 fighters, 50 of whom have already completed training and are already participating in the preparation of the first aircraft in Ukraine. This was announced by Danish Air Force Commander Jan Dam, TV2 reports.
By the end of the year, Denmark will train around 20 Ukrainian pilots. In addition, about 100 Ukrainians should be trained to perform support tasks. We are talking about mechanics, weapons specialists and ground personnel for air bases.
“So far we have finished training the first 50, most of them have returned home to help prepare (receive) the first combat aircraft. We will start the next 50 immediately after the summer holidays,” said Jan Dam.
According to him, the first batch of pilots has not been fully trained.
Danish Air Force Commander Jan Dam expects to follow the delivery schedule for F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
The first of Denmark’s 19 aircraft will be delivered to Ukraine in the summer.
“For reasons of operational security, I cannot say anything more precise but I hope that the schedule will be respected and you will be informed when the aircraft is ready in Ukraine,” said Jan Dam.
According to him, the planes will operate from bases in Ukraine.
We remind you that a certain number of F-16 fighters to be transferred by partners to Ukraine will be stored in secure air bases abroad.
Russia has said it will consider foreign-based F-16s supplied to Ukraine as “legitimate targets” if the planes participate in combat missions.
