It turned out that a 51-year-old local resident detonated a hand grenade in one of the residential areas. The explosion damaged 11 cars, but no civilians were injured. The Metropolitan Police reported this on Facebook.
The police, with forceful support from Kord special forces, detained the attacker at his place of residence. In the house of the detainee, law enforcement officers found five grenades and about 40 rounds of various calibers. Investigators are trying to determine the origin of the weapon.
The Kyiv police opened a criminal case under Part 4, Article 296 (hooliganism committed with the use of weapons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The resident of the capital faces up to 7 years in prison for the crime.
Let us recall that in May, in the center of the city of Brovary in the Kiev region, a fugitive threw a grenade at the law enforcement officers who were pursuing him. The attacker himself and one of the law enforcement officers were injured.
