The German Chancellor said that he, together with his Polish and Czech colleagues, wrote a corresponding letter to Ursula von der Leyen.
The European Union should allocate more funds to countries like Germany that host large numbers of Ukrainian refugees. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this at the EU summit in Brussels, Politico reports.
He said he wrote a joint letter with his Polish and Czech counterparts, Donald Tusk and Petr Fiala, to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen detailing this request.
He explained that Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic accepted the largest share of Ukrainian refugees.
“That’s why, together with my colleagues, I believe it’s time to make a decision… for Europe to give these countries special financial support to provide social assistance (to refugees), vocational training , language courses and much more. ,” stressed the head of the German government.
The discussion about Ukrainian refugees in Germany has intensified in recent months.
As you know, some politicians from the center-right opposition argue that Berlin should reduce social assistance to Ukrainians who have not yet found work in Germany. However, the German government opposed the idea of deporting Ukrainians who did not want to work.
