An attempted military coup in Bolivia has failed: General Juan Jose Zuniga, who led the storming of the government palace, has been arrested.

Zuniga was recently fired from his position as commander-in-chief of the Bolivian army. He led the rebels and said he wanted to “rebuild democracy” and change the government, writes Reuters.
First, the military, led by Juan José Zuniga, blocked the central square of the Bolivian capital, and then an armored vehicle rammed the doors of the presidential palace and the soldiers tried to go inside.
Bolivian President Luis Arce called on the people to “mobilize against the coup d’état in favor of democracy.” Pro-democracy demonstrators took to the streets in support of the government.
Juan José Zuniga was arrested, and the country’s president swore in the new army commander-in-chief. After this, the military began to leave the square.
