During March-April 2022, the head of the Security Department of PJSC NEK Ukrenergo, who was responsible for checking suppliers and selecting the most advantageous offers, ensured the purchase of body armor from a predetermined company at a price twice the market price. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau announced this on Facebook on June 26.
Investigators found that this supplier did not have the necessary permits and licenses and had never produced body armor. As a result of this scheme, the state suffered losses amounting to more than UAH 10.3 million.
NABU and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, informed the former official of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 364 (abuse of power or official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The defendant faces up to six years in prison.
Let us remind you that NABU exposed the mayor of Mukachevo and the chairman of the Mukachevo district council for corruption. The criminals sold 3 hectares of land for next to nothing in the Transcarpathian region – as a result of transactions, land with a market value of UAH 84.6 million was sold for only UAH 9.6 million.
