Instructors in Finland trained soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in various areas – from basic training to special forces training.
For the first time, the Finnish Ministry of Defense officially acknowledged that Ukrainian military personnel were trained on their territory. This was said by the head of the Ministry of Defense, Antti Hyakkänen, European Pravda reports.
According to him, Finnish instructors have already trained thousands of Ukrainians for full combat readiness. The majority of training took place within EU and UK-led operations, with some training also taking place in Finland.
“In Finland, we conducted small training events. In training, it was technical training related to specific equipment. It was part of normal operational training in deployed combat systems,” Häkkänen said.
The minister pointed out that instructors in Finland trained soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in various areas – from basic training to special forces training, while noting that the training was faster and more effective compared to in the Finnish model of conscripts in training.
Häkkänen believes that the training of Ukrainian soldiers will play an increasingly important role in supporting Ukraine.
“The main purpose of such training is the following: as Ukraine conducts enhanced mobilization, the West will also take better care of the training of the mobilized,” he added.
As you know, in Europe, the Ukrainian military is trained mainly within the framework of two programs – Interflex, led by Britain, as well as the EUMAM initiative under the auspices of the EU.
We remind you that the latest innovations from the Finnish defense industry have been exported to Ukraine.
Earlier, Finland transferred the 23rd package of military aid to Ukraine. This includes air defense equipment and projectiles with a total value of approximately 200 million euros.
