Currently, only S7 airlines with hidden data about its fleet still publishes this information.
Data on the number of aircraft in the fleet of one of Russia’s largest airlines has disappeared from the official website of the Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation (Rosaviation). As the Federal Air Transport Agency explained to the Russian publication Kommersant, the lack of data “on the agency’s public website is due to the need to optimize published information,” but the agency noted that some carriers continue to publish such data on their Internet resources.
It is reported that only S7 airline has hidden data about its fleet. According to Flightradar24, this air carrier has 104 aircraft, according to the Federal Air Transport Agency, in March – 100.
The remaining Russian carriers still publish this information: Airlines of the Aeroflot group have 349 aircraft in their fleet, Ural Airlines – 52, Utair – 59.
The head of the Rostec state corporation, Sergei Chemezov, noted in May that the massive retirement of aircraft from the world’s leading manufacturers from the fleet of Russian airlines will begin in 2030, “because there are no more opportunities for repairs.”
The publication’s sources believe that the actual fleet of Russian carriers will begin to decline around 2026 or even earlier. The authors believe that hiding information about the number of aircraft can be explained by “the desire to reduce reputational costs.”
Most of the interlocutors of the industry publication are confident that the lack of information on the number of aircraft will help Russian carriers replenish their fleet by purchasing used aircraft on the market of “countries friendly to Russia.” The point is that some Russian airlines are already conducting such negotiations, but the prices for buyers from the Russian Federation exceed market prices by 10-30%.
The Federal Air Transport Agency last published a register with the number of aircraft on October 20, 2023, then the operator certificates of 116 Russian airlines indicated 2,228 aircraft, but the former Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Vitaly Savelyev in March already in reality there. are more than 1,100 aircraft operated by Russian airlines.
We remind you that in the winter of this year, searches were conducted at the Federal Air Transport Agency due to the sale of aircraft to “unfriendly countries”.
