NATO member countries are working together to strategically suppress Russia, Dmitry Peskov said.
The approval of Mark Rutte as the next Secretary General of NATO is unlikely to change anything for Russia. This pessimistic view was expressed by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov at a briefing on Wednesday, June 26.
“It is unlikely that this option is capable of changing anything in the general line of NATO, which is now separate, we mean the member countries under the direct leadership of the United States, and collectively, as the North Atlantic Alliance, is working with the goal of strategic suppression of the Russian Federation,” he said.
“Right now, it’s an Alliance against us,” Peskov added.
Earlier, Dmitry Peskov said that NATO is “increasing the level of escalation.” He accused the current Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, of “getting carried away by military rhetoric.”
The Kremlin also believes it is in “direct confrontation” with NATO. It is the Alliance that seems to be “a destabilizing factor on the European continent,” Peskov believes.
