Employees of the National Police migration police took part in a large-scale international operation to fight human trafficking. This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine on Wednesday, June 25.
The sting operation, called Global Chain, is said to be aimed at disrupting criminal networks linked to sexual exploitation, forced crime and begging. Law enforcement officers from 39 countries in Europe, South America, Africa, Australia and South Asia took part in the operation.
“From June 3 to June 9, the world hosted a week of joint action against human trafficking, EMPACT (European Multidisciplinary Platform against Criminal Threats). The large-scale operation Global Chain was led by Austria with the participation of Romania , Europol, FRONTEX and Interpol As a result, law enforcement officers arrested 219 people and identified more than 1,374 victims, including 153 children,” the report said.

In particular, police officers of the migration police of the Main Directorate of Police in the Odessa region liquidated an organized group whose members exploited citizens for begging, and Chernigov migration officers exposed of a man who recruits a disabled person to arrange a sham marriage in order to avoid military service. In the Vinnytsia region, law enforcement officers detained two people who recruited and sexually abused a minor girl.
Criminals detained in Ukraine were informed by investigators about suspicion of human trafficking, and the victims were provided with the necessary assistance.
In addition, migration police officers on the territory of Ukraine told the population about the dangers of human trafficking and ways to avoid them.
It was previously reported that Russia and Belarus were included in the list of states that promote human trafficking.
