It is known that one of the patrol officers saw a suspicious black Priora, where there were two people wearing all black. When they tried to get closer, they opened fire and then fled.
According to media reports, roads in the city were blocked. There is no official information from the Russian authorities.

Let’s recall that on June 23, a series of terrorist attacks took place in Russian Dagestan, which is predominantly inhabited by Muslims. The incidents took place in the city of Derbent and the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala. Unidentified persons opened fire on a synagogue, a church and a traffic police post with automatic weapons.
Five attackers were killed: three in Makhachkala and two in Derbenti. Two of them are the sons of the head of the Sergokalinsky district of Dagestan, Magomed Omarov, who is also the secretary of the local branch of the United Russia party.
As a result of the attacks in Dagestan, 21 people died, including 16 police officers, and almost 30 more people were injured. Mourning was declared in the republic from June 24 to 26.
