The countries reaffirmed their intention to further strengthen diplomatic and security cooperation to counter the DPRK’s threats to regional and global security.
The United States, South Korea and Japan have condemned the deepening of military cooperation between the DPRK and Russia, including the continued supply of weapons to the Russian Federation. This was stated in a joint statement by the representatives of the three countries posted on the website of the US State Department.
The statement states that the development of a “partnership” between the DPRK and Russia, which was confirmed by the signing of the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement” during the visit of Russian Ruler Vladimir Putin to Pyongyang on June 19, “should cause serious concern to all those interested in maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, support for the international nuclear non-proliferation regime, and support for the people of Ukraine in their struggle for freedom and independence against brutal Russian invasion.
The countries reaffirmed their intention to further strengthen diplomatic and security cooperation to counter the DPRK’s threats to regional and global security and prevent the situation from escalating.
“The United States’ commitment to the defense of the Republic of Korea and Japan remains unwavering. The United States, the Republic of Korea, and Japan reaffirm that the path to dialogue remains open and call on the DPRK to cease further provocation and return to negotiations,” the statement said.
Let’s recall that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin agreed to a “strategic partnership” with the DPRK. Kim Jong-un has expressed full support for Russia’s war on Ukraine. After North Korea, Putin came to Vietnam.
