In February, Czech President Petr Pavel announced at the Munich Conference that the Czech Republic had found 800,000 shells ready to be bought outside the European Union.
Defenders of Ukraine will receive the first batch of ammunition as part of the Czech initiative at the end of June. Czech Defense Minister Jana Chernokhova announced this on Sunday, June 23, on CNN Prima NEWS.
“I can say that the first batch will actually be delivered or delivered there before the end of June, as we promised,” said Chernokhova.
According to him, he cannot publish accurate information according to agreements with partners. In addition, the Russians could take advantage of it.
“We keep our word to our partners with whom we are working on the ammunition initiative project,” he said.
Earlier, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky reported that ammunition purchased within the framework of the Czech initiative was already arriving in Ukraine. This year, Kyiv will continue to receive “significant amounts” of them.
Let’s recall that earlier the Czech government said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive from 50 to 100 thousand large caliber shells monthly. The first shells under the initiative will be delivered to Ukraine in June.
In April it was reported that the Czech Republic had discovered more than a million shells for Ukraine. We are mainly talking about 155 mm ammunition. At the beginning of May, the Czech Republic announced that they had raised money for 500 thousand shells for Ukraine.
