The militants say they hit two tankers and two cargo ships in Haifa. However, there was no independent confirmation of the strikes.
Yemen’s Houthis said they carried out a joint military operation with the Islamic Resistance militant group in Iraq, attacking four ships in the northern port of Haifa in Israel. Reuters reported this on Sunday, June 23.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Sari said in a televised statement that the two groups carried out drone attacks on two cement tankers and two cargo ships in the port of Haifa on Saturday. According to him, the ships were among the companies that “violated the ban on entering the ports of occupied Palestine.”
Sari also said the Houthis attacked the Shorthorn Express in the Mediterranean using drones as part of a campaign to disrupt shipping on major waterways in what they said was an act of solidarity with the Palestinians in the war in Gaza.
“The two operations successfully achieved their objective, and the strikes were precise and direct,” Sari said.
At the same time, the publication writes, there is no independent confirmation of the strikes, so it is impossible to confirm these statements.
It was earlier reported that a second ship, the bulk carrier Tutor, sank in the Red Sea due to an attack by the Houthis.
Earlier, the Yemeni Houthis attacked the Ukrainian ship Verbena with two anti-ship cruise missiles in the Gulf of Aden.
