The emergency situation will worsen with the arrival of thousands of tourists who visit the island every day.
On the island of Capri in Italy, problems with the water supply began due to the accident. Because of this, on Saturday, June 22, the authorities were forced to ban tourists from entering, according to Barron’s report to AFP.
It was noted that the ban by local authorities forced some ferries bound for Capri from Naples and Sorrento to turn back.
The company responsible for Capri’s water supply said a technical problem had occurred on the Italian mainland on Thursday. Despite the fact that the fault has been fixed, problems with the island’s water supply still persist, they added.
Capri Mayor Paolo Falco warned of a “real emergency” and noted that while most of the island had water on Friday, local reservoirs had “dried up.”
“The emergency situation will worsen with the arrival of thousands of tourists who come to Capri every day,” said the island’s mayor.
According to Falco, local residents can get up to 25 liters of drinking water per household from the reservoir.
It was previously reported that Barcelona plans to ban renting housing to tourists.
