Explosions were heard in the Smolensk and Bryansk regions of the Russian Federation on the night of June 23. In Lipetsk, the alarm was announced due to the threat of a UAV strike. This was announced on their Telegram channels by the governors of the three regions, respectively: Vasily Anokhin, Alexander Bogomaz and Igor Artamonov.
Representatives of the ruling Russian regime rushed to confirm that they had repelled the Ukrainian drone attack.
According to the governor of Smolensk, drones were spotted over Smolensk and Yartsevo, and the air defense forces were conducting combat operations against them at around three in the morning local time.
Bryansk regional authorities say several municipal districts in the region have come under a “massive attack”, but all targets are said to have been shot at and intercepted.
“Within an hour, twelve aircraft types of aircraft were destroyed. Two UAVs were over Trubchevsky district, eight drones were shot down on the territory of Brasovsky district, two were destroyed in Pochepsky district,” wrote Bogomaz .
Subsequently, he added that allegedly another nine aircraft-type drones were also destroyed by the air defense forces. Around 3 a.m., a Russian official said two more drones were also shot down in the Surazh district.
In the Lipetsk region that night, an air raid alert was announced precisely because of the threat of a drone attack. The local governor wrote about the threat on Telegram only at about 06:20.
Let’s recall that in Russia two oil depots were attacked from UAVs: oil terminals in the city of Azov, Rostov Region, and an oil depot in the Temryuk district of the Krasnodar Territory.
The media, citing sources, reported that the UAV attack was carried out by the SBU.
