Shooting down an enemy missile with a machine gun is a very difficult task. But responsibility and the understanding that the lives of many people depend on you make it impossible,” says Sergei in his pseudo-Doctor Mom.
The air force said he was on combat duty as part of a mobile fire team. On the morning of June 12, his unit intercepted an enemy missile heading towards Vasilkov, Kyiv region.
In civilian life, Sergei worked as a doctor.
Having received the “ready” command, together with my brothers, we immediately went to the position. The radio said that our target was already close. For a few seconds we saw an enemy missile rushing towards Vasilkov. Without hesitation, he took his machine gun and opened fire on the target. There was only one thing in my mind – I have to hit it! Having fired a burst from a machine gun, I saw that the rocket began to deviate from course and descend, the military man recalls.
Sergei admits that emotions were overwhelming at that moment. I only believed that he really shot down an enemy missile with a machine gun when he saw its fragments with his own eyes.
