This decision was made on June 20 by the Supreme Defense Council, chaired by President Klaus Johannis.
This transfer is being carried out on the condition that our country will continue negotiations with allies, including the strategic partner of the United States, in order to obtain a similar or similar system that will meet the needs of protecting national airspace, according to a statement on the website of the president of the country following the meeting.
In addition, the United States will today announce the cessation of supplies of Patriot air defense systems to other countries in order to provide Ukraine with systems. The Financial Times wrote about this, citing sources.
Among the European countries with an open order for Patriot systems are Poland, Romania and Germany.
Financial Times sources say that officials became aware of this a week ago, on Thursday, when US President Joe Biden announced at the G7 summit in Italy that he supported the commitment to supply Ukraine with additional air defense systems.
