President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced this today, June 19, on his page on the social network X.
“I am grateful to the OAS, an important regional organization uniting 32 states from South and North America, and its Secretary General Luis Almagro for supporting global efforts to restore the full force of the UN Charter,” Zelensky emphasized.
According to Zelensky, the communique of the first Peace Summit strengthens respect for the fundamental norms of international law that protect all peace-loving nations.
We continue to encourage everyone to join our global efforts that promote equality for all nations, bring closer a just world for Ukraine and create opportunities for global leadership, he added.
Earlier today, Zelensky also announced that Antigua and Barbuda had joined the communiqué.
“This is the first country that was not represented at the Summit, but subsequently joined the final document,” he noted, expressing his conviction that the number of countries joining the communiqué will continue to grow.
Let us recall that the final Joint Communiqué of the Peace Summit was signed by 80 states and four organizations. Later, Iraq, Jordan and Rwanda withdrew the signatures, but the Ecumenical Patriarchate joined the final declaration.
