Kyiv said eighteen howitzers were needed to equip an entire artillery battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The German federal government is considering providing Ukraine with more self-propelled howitzers to defend against a Russian attack. On Friday, June 24, according to Handelsblatt.
As a German Ministry of Defense official told reporters, Germany is in talks with the Netherlands and another European partner in organizing the further delivery of the Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled guns to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It was specified that once Ukraine received seven PzH 2000 units from Germany and five weapon systems from the Netherlands.
The report states that Kyiv said 18 howitzers were needed to equip an entire artillery battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, that is, six more units were needed.
“Berlin is determined to fulfill the request if supply partners also join,” the German government said.
Earlier it was learned that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had received 12 Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled guns from Germany and the Netherlands. Also, all the military who learned how to use this equipment have already returned to Ukraine.
Recall that the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons.
