Italy will provide Ukraine with a SAMP/T air defense system as part of the ninth military aid package. This is what Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said, Sky TG24 reports on Tuesday, June 18.
The minister was asked if the new military aid package to Ukraine would include long-range missiles.
“He (package, – ed.) will be presented to the parliamentary security control committee of Italy, there is a secret,” answered the foreign minister.
Tajani agreed with Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto that if secrecy is lifted from military aid to Ukraine, such questions will no longer arise. In particular, we are talking about the value of transferred aid.
“The only thing known is that a SAMP/T defensive battery will be sent to protect the skies over Ukraine,” the minister said.
It was previously reported that Italy may transfer Storm Shadow long-range missiles to Ukraine in its next military aid package.
