The ninth weapons package for Ukraine will contain not only the Samp-T air defense system, but also a batch of Storm Shadow long-range missiles.
Italy may move Storm Shadow long-range missiles to Ukraine in its next military aid package. This was reported by the Italian newspaper Fatto Quotidiano.
It was noted that the ninth weapons package for Ukraine, which Defense Minister Guido Crosetto will present to parliament before the end of the month, will contain not only the Samp-T air defense system, but also a batch of Storm Shadow long- range missiles. which could potentially land on Russian soil, authoritative sources familiar with the situation told the publication.
Storm Shadow missiles are long-range air-to-ground cruise missiles developed by France and the UK. French analogues are called Scalp. They have a range of more than 560 kilometers, which allows them to hit targets far from enemy air defenses. Equipped with a modern TERCOM (Terrain Contour Matching) system and GPS navigation, which ensures high accuracy of breakdown. Low radar visibility makes them difficult to detect by enemy radars. The missiles can be programmed to attack a variety of targets, including bunkers, air defense systems and bridges.
We remind you that earlier the media wrote that Italy joined the supply of missiles to Ukraine. We are talking about SCALP EG/Storm Shadow missiles.
Last year, the UK transferred a certain number of Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine.
