In the Czech Republic, an ammunition explosion occurred at a military training ground near the city of Libau, as a result of which at least nine people were injured, Novynki writes. cz and Idnes.cz.
The Czech Armed Forces called the incident “serious,” noting that military police are now working at the scene of the explosion, and a criminal case has been opened into this fact. Eight victims were hospitalized in Olomouc hospitals, and one wounded person was being treated on the spot.
At the end of April 2024, an investigation in the Czech Republic confirmed the involvement of Russian special services in explosions at ammunition depots in Vrbetica.
Czech investigators established that the main goal of Russian military intelligence agents was to disrupt the delivery of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine and Syria.
The Czech Center for Combating Organized Crime did not specify the names of the perpetrators, but investigators previously named Anatoly Chepiga and Alexander Mishkin as responsible.
The head of the Czech Security and Information Service, Michal Koudelka, also said that these GRU officers were involved in the explosions.
Let us recall that in April 2021, the Czech authorities announced the expulsion of 18 Russian diplomats. Thus, Prague responded to Moscow’s likely involvement in the explosion at an ammunition depot in the village of Vrbetice in 2014.
