Italy is opposed to using its own weapons to strike Russia, and “will not send even one Italian soldier to fight in Ukraine, because it is not at war with Russia.”
Italy is ready to send a new military aid package to Ukraine. This is what Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said at the Peace Summit on Saturday, June 15, Rai News and Sky TG24 wrote.
The diplomat assured that Ukraine can always count on his state. At the same time, the minister criticized the actions of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in relation to Kyiv.
“Italy is interested in making sure that we do not forget about Ukraine. Unfortunately, Putin shows no signs of working for peace… Mr. Zelensky, come to us in Italy, we will also support the restoration of Ukraine.
In this regard, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said at the Summit that a loan to Ukraine in the amount of $50 billion, whose guarantees will involve income from frozen Russian assets, will not be financed by the countries of European Union.
Meloni was asked if Italy would contribute directly to a loan guaranteed by Russia’s fixed assets. He replied that the funds would be provided by the US, Canada, the UK and probably Japan.
“Currently, European countries do not intervene because all assets are mobilized in Europe, so Europe is already making its contribution by accepting the guarantee mechanism,” explained the prime minister.
Italy is ready to host and organize the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine in 2025.
Italy is ready to transfer a new package of military aid to the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense. In addition, Rome also agreed to a new package of 140 million euros for activities to develop Ukrainian infrastructure.
