The Russian army of occupation did not want to abandon the idea of occupying as much Ukrainian territory as possible.
Russia has not abandoned plans to continue its offensive in Ukraine’s Kharkov region, despite heavy losses. This is what Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov said, as reported by RosSMI on Sunday, June 16.
“The work continues to create a buffer zone, a sanitary zone. This work continues clearly until we secure Shebekino, the Belgorod region, and other regions from such barbaric shelling, the this work (to create a sanitary zone – ed. ) will not stop,” – he said.
Peskov also echoed Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s view that a certain “point of no return” was unacceptably close, while blaming the “collective West” for the escalating tensions.
“We see how the countries of the Western collective – the USA, France, other European countries – continue to intensify the tension, which provokes tension, entering new stages of escalation, of course, not all it will happen without a response from Russia will defend its interests and achieve in all possible ways the goals of the Northern Military District (as the war against Ukraine is called in the Russian Federation – ed.),” said Kremlin spokesman.
We remind you that on the night of May 10, Russian troops launched an offensive in the north of the Kharkov region. The invaders captured about 10 villages, mainly in the “gray zone” and began to fight for the city of Volchansk. Today the Ukrainian Armed Forces control most of Volchansk, and according to media reports, Ukrainian troops recently successfully counterattacked and liberated several city blocks.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the start of the offensive in the direction of Kharkov, the Russian invaders have lost 4,000 troops.
