Colombian President Gustavo Petro suddenly canceled his visit to Switzerland, where he was supposed to participate in the Global Peace Summit. Blu Radio TV channel reported this on Saturday, June 15.
As Petro himself explained to journalists, the Summit allegedly “will not bring peace between Ukraine and Russia.”
“Latin America does not want new wars, we want a quick establishment of peace, the end of the genocide against the Palestinian people, as well as finding difficult ways to start a war between Ukraine and Russia ,” he says.
Petro added on social network X that the Colombian government will participate in all efforts to build dialogue and peace between the aggressor country Russia and Ukraine.
The Republic of Colombia recognized the independence of Ukraine on May 27, 1992. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on August 18, 1992.
The Global Peace Summit, initiated by Ukraine, is taking place in Switzerland. Russia was not invited here.
China is not participating in the Peace Summit in Switzerland because Russian dictator Vladimir Putin asked the Chinese leadership to do so.
