The militants launched two anti-ship cruise missiles that hit the ship. The ship had recently docked in Malaysia and was en route to Italy carrying wooden building materials. One civilian sailor was seriously injured during the attack. A fire broke out and the crew fought the fire. This was reported by the US Central Command.
It is noted that the USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) evacuated the wounded sailor to the ship. There the victim was provided with medical assistance.
This reckless behavior by the Iran-backed Houthis continues to threaten regional stability and endangers the lives of sailors in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the command said.
The Americans emphasized that the Houthis are threatening the lives of citizens of third countries who have nothing to do with the conflict in Gaza.
Let us recall that in February, in the Red Sea, the Houthis attacked the British cargo ship Rubymar, sailing under the flag of Belize, with a ballistic missile. The ship, carrying more than 20 thousand tons of toxic fertilizers, sank.
