Russia is not interested in intra-European affairs, Peskov said. The main thing is that it does not cause more problems in the Russian Federation, he added.
Granting the status of European Union candidates to Ukraine and Moldova is an internal European affair, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday, June 24th.
“First, it is, of course, internal European affairs. It is very important for us that all these processes do not bring more problems to us and more problems in the relations of the countries mentioned to us. There are enough of these problems, ”he said.
Also, these processes should not lead “to a further deterioration of relations between Russia and the EU, because they are already relatively broken,” Peskov added.
On the eve of the European Council granted Ukraine the status of a candidate for entry into the European Union. This decision was fully supported by all EU leaders during the summit in Brussels.
Earlier, the European Parliament adopted a resolution supporting granting Ukraine and Moldova the status of candidates for joining the European Union.
