The Ministry of Natural Resources has calculated the total amount of damage caused by the Russian Federation to the climate after 24 months of war.
In two years of the great war, Russia caused $32 billion in climate damage. This is stated in the report of the Ministry of Natural Resources.
It was noted that the war resulted in 175 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. This is equivalent to the annual emissions from 90 million cars, or the entire Netherlands for a year. This assessment includes both emissions that have already occurred and those that will occur in the future during the renovation.
Emissions from war can be roughly divided into three components: war, the steel and concrete needed to rebuild damaged infrastructure, and the latter component consisting of various factors including fire and displacement of people.
As a result of the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam, the environment was damaged, according to preliminary calculations, to 78 billion UAH.
We remind you that financially the damage from damage and destruction of buildings and infrastructure in Ukraine amounts to $153 billion. However, with each day of the war this number grows.
