The narratives of these sites about the President of Ukraine buying a yacht, the estates of King Charles or the villas of Joseph Goebbels are gaining millions of views, and the number of sites automatically populated with the help of artificial intelligence is growing rapidly.
Voice of America spoke about this with the acting editor-in-chief of NewsGuard and co-author of the Dugan investigation, Ava Maitland.
One of the fakes was that Zelensky bought a castle belonging to King Charles of Great Britain. The story received 1.3 million views, Maitland said.
She spoke about a network of almost 170 sites disseminating Kremlin disinformation. Most of them are new and are available in 16 languages.
According to fact checkers, it is Dugan who runs the Kremlin’s disinformation sites.
Maitland says there was a narrative that was repeated by American congressmen as an argument not to provide further assistance to Ukraine.
