Protests have been going on in Armenia for weeks. Demonstrators are demanding the resignation of current Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government.
In the heart of Armenia’s capital Yerevan, the protests have not subsided. On the evening of Wednesday, June 12, several thousand protesters gathered near the parliament building. Police detained at least 90 demonstrators during the day, and at least 55 people were injured as a result of the clashes, Ekho Kavkaza reported.
Protests have been going on in Armenia for weeks. Demonstrators are demanding the resignation of current Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government. Most of them are fans of the “Tavush for the Motherland” movement. They proposed the leader of the movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, as a new candidate for the position of prime minister.
On the evening of June 12, during a government meeting, protesters began to dismantle the fences around the parliament building, trying to enter the entrance. In response, the police began to disperse the demonstrators.
It was previously reported that 226 people were detained in Armenia during anti-government protests.
