The German government has allocated the most for humanitarian demining projects in Ukraine.
Partner countries have increased assistance for humanitarian demining of the territory of Ukraine by more than $35 million. The Ministry of Economy reported this on Wednesday, June 12.
It is expected that the projects will be implemented within the framework of this monetary assistance until 2027.
Germany, together with Ukrainian partners, will finance seven projects. For 2024, the German government has allocated an additional 20 million euros for this.
“In particular, 1 million euros will go to a pilot project with the Danish Refugee Council and the international organization Humanity & Inclusion for comprehensive assistance to victims of mine explosives: from physical rehabilitation to psychosocial support in the next two years, 10% of Germany’s aid will be allocated to humanitarian demining specifically to help victims Germany will allocate another four million euros to continue existing projects in 2025,” the statement said.
Sweden has increased aid by $9 million to increase the capacity of Ukrainian government institutions to train their own demining units. At the same time, Belgium allocated two million euros for joint projects from UNDP and FAO in the field of humanitarian demining.
“The clearance of the mine is the zero stage of the restoration of Ukraine and at the same time it is a contribution to the security of Ukrainians, global food security of the world,” emphasized the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Sviridenko.
