The NATO Secretary General said he hoped the Alliance’s allies would agree on long-term financial obligations.
During the Alliance summit in Washington on July 9-11, NATO leaders will discuss aid to Ukraine, in particular, issues of coordinating arms supplies. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced this in a press conference.
“I hope that the allies will agree on a comprehensive package of measures for Ukraine. It is an agreement that NATO will play a leading role in providing and coordinating military support, security assistance and training for in Ukraine,” the Secretary General.
According to him, in this way NATO allies can help Ukraine create “future forces” and ensure interoperability that will bring the country closer to membership in the Alliance.
Stoltenberg also added that he hoped Alliance allies would agree on long-term financial obligations.
“It is not for me to go into the details of the exact words, but I hope that these words will be clearer in our commitment that Ukraine will be a member of the Alliance,” said Stoltenberg.
He emphasized that he also expects important statements from the allies on the supply of weapons, air defense shells and artillery to Ukraine.
