The press services of the SBU and the Lugansk Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported this today, June 12.
It is noted that the attacker is a former farm worker in the village of Nevskoye, who, during the occupation of the village, offered his assistance to the Russian military in the war against Ukraine.
- Having technical skills, the defendant got a job at a local repair base of the occupation group;
- there he was involved in the repair of Russian military equipment, in particular, Smerch multiple launch rocket systems, shot down by Ukrainian defenders during the fighting;
- the attacker also repaired damaged armored personnel carriers and trucks transporting ammunition from the aggressor country;
- In addition, the defendant helped the occupiers erect fortifications in the form of dugouts on the territory of the community.
For cooperation with the enemy, the collaborator hoped to join the leadership of the local occupation administration of Russia, the SBU notes. “But he failed to get the “position.” In the fall of 2022, Ukrainian defenders liberated the village, and the collaborator himself fled to the Dnieper, where he hid under the guise of a displaced person.
His activities in favor of the aggressor state were exposed in early June of this year. SBU officers located him and detained him in a rented apartment. During a search at his place of residence, material evidence of illegal activities was seized.
The detainee was informed of suspicion under Part 7 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code (collaboration activities). The attacker is in custody and faces up to 15 years in prison.
