Argentine media wrote that Miley would not be able to participate in the Summit because she had “other plans” at the time.
The President of Argentina, Javier Miley, changed his position and decided to go to the Peace Summit on June 15-16 in Switzerland, where he was invited by the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky. The Clarín newspaper writes about it on Tuesday, June 11.
According to the publication, Zelensky sent a special message to Miley in which he requested that “his Argentine friend be at least present at the opening ceremony of the Summit, which will be held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland this Saturday the 15th and Sunday the -16 on Ukraine’s support of the war against Russia.”
Also, about 20 Argentine organizations of the Ukrainian diaspora joined Zelensky’s call.
According to Clarin, some said Miley received messages asking her to leave for Switzerland not only from Kyiv, but from Washington.
Argentina made it clear that it adheres to the two points of the Peace Formula that will be presented in Switzerland this weekend: radiological and nuclear safety and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
In addition, Argentina also agreed to join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children Abducted by Russia.
As you know, an international peace summit will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16, initiated by Ukraine. Leaders from 160 countries are invited to the event. At the same time, there is information that more than 100 countries and organizations have confirmed their participation.
The conference will build on previous discussions, especially on the Ukrainian Peace Formula and other peace proposals based on the UN Charter and basic principles of international law.
We remind you that Argentina transferred Mi-17 helicopters to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which it bought from the Russian Federation.
