The European Council on the evening of Thursday, June 23, granted Ukraine the status of a candidate for joining the European Union.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky recorded a video message in connection with granting Ukraine the status of an EU candidate.

“Ukraine is a candidate for joining the European Union! This is a historic event. Having expressed the desire to move to the EU, we finally heard clearly: we are waiting for you!” Said the president.

Recall, the European Council on the evening of Thursday, June 23, granted Ukraine the status of a candidate for joining the European Union. This decision was fully supported by all EU leaders during the summit in Brussels.

The other day, the European Parliament adopted a resolution supporting giving Ukraine and Moldova the status of candidates for joining the European Union.
