An ex-soldier hatches a scheme for illegal enrichment by illegally transporting men abroad.
Law enforcement officers in Bukovina detained a former TCC officer of the district, who was transporting men across the border to Romania for $5,000. Participants in the transaction gathered “clients” in a certain place near the border and then moved them through the forest belt outside the official checkpoints. This was reported by the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police.
“Those who want to leave were searched among the residents of the Chernivtsi region, the details about the date, time and place of the crossing were discussed directly with the clients in private communication and sent online… The crossing took place on the roads in outside the official checkpoints,” – said the message.
One of the participants in the scheme is a 35-year-old resident of the Chernivtsi region. He was detained while accepting money for the “service of a guide.” He was declared suspicious under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and choose a preventive measure – detention with the right to post more than 242 thousand UAH of bail. Now he could be jailed for 7 to 9 years.
The Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor’s Office clarified that with experience working with conscripts, the former serviceman built a scheme for illegal enrichment by organizing their illegal transportation abroad.
