Before winter, it is necessary to carry out a quick and cheap restoration of damaged energy facilities that can be restored. It is known how to ensure this, the president said.
Russian aggressors destroyed 80% of thermal generation and a third of hydroelectric generation in Ukraine. President Vladimir Zelensky said this at the conference on the restoration of Ukraine in Berlin at the level of heads of state and government on Tuesday, June 11.
“Currently, Ukraine is suffering from the most destructive form of the Russian vision of energy as a weapon. As a result of strikes by Russian missiles and drones, 9 gigawatts of capacity were destroyed despite the fact that the highest consumption of energy Ukraine last winter was 18 gigawatts Because of this, half has already disappeared,” – he said.
Zelensky gave an example for comparison: Berlin is about 2 gigawatts of consumption, and Munich is about 3 gigawatts.
“We have lost many times more generations than the amount of energy consumed in large cities,” the head of state stressed.
Zelensky noted that this is not the limit of fear in Russia and it must be stopped, energy restoration must begin.
“We must do everything possible and impossible to preserve the existing generation and restore the lost to the highest what is rebuilt in Ukraine today, repaired, protected will have a double result – it will serve Ukraine and Europe as a energy base in the next decades, and will also be proof that “the Russian arsenal will not maintain weapons like blackout,” the president said.
Vladimir Zelensky emphasized that in the shorter term, it is necessary to carry out quick and inexpensive restoration of all damaged energy facilities that can be restored.
“Before the winter, it is very important in the next three to four months, to maintain normal life,” – summed up the Ukrainian leader.
We remind you that Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal said that in Ukraine only 27% of large thermal power plants remain in operation, and the rest were damaged or destroyed as a result of shelling by the enemy.
