Polish authorities are trying to prevent migrants sent by Russian and Belarusian authorities from illegally crossing the border.
The Polish government has defined a buffer zone on the border with Belarus, which in some places will be two kilometers. This was announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, RAR reports.
“We adopted a resolution, the practical embodiment of which is the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration on the creation of a buffer zone on the border of Belarus,” he said.
Thus, the Polish authorities want to make it more difficult for illegal migrants from Belarus to enter the country and ensure good service conditions for border guards and the military.
“We are talking about several tens of kilometers at a depth of 200 meters. In the protected areas there are areas where the buffer zone will go to a depth of two kilometers, but these areas are not expanded. It is due to the presence of smugglers who operate mainly in forest areas, in a two kilometers from the border in these areas the buffer zone will expand,” said Tusk.
According to him, the Polish authorities should use all methods to prevent migrants sent by the authorities of Russia and Belarus from illegally crossing the border.
“Here we will be patient,” Tusk emphasized.
We remind you that a military man died in Poland, a few days ago he was wounded with a knife by an illegal migrant trying to enter the country from the territory of Belarus.
The Polish government is demanding that Belarusian authorities identify the killer of the Polish border guard and hand him over to Warsaw as part of the investigation.
