Christophe Deloire became the head of Reporters Without Borders in 2012. The organization’s goal is to protect human rights and freedom of speech around the world.
After a short serious illness, the Secretary General of the international organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF), Christophe Deloire, has died. He is 53 years old, RSF reported on Saturday, June 8.
“We are shocked, stunned and hurt by the untimely death,” said Anja Osterhaus, managing director of the German section of Reporters Without Borders.
He said Deloire made the organization “fit for the future” at a time when disinformation and attacks on journalists increasingly threaten press freedom and autocracies are trying to suppress free media.
Osterhaus, on behalf of all RSF employees, expressed deep gratitude for Deloire’s tireless dedication to press freedom.
Christophe Deloire became the head of Reporters Without Borders in 2012. In 2018, he founded the Forum for Information and Democracy, an initiative that promotes the rule of law and a free press as the foundation of every democracy.
Earlier it was reported about the death of the founder of the Interfax-Ukraine agency Alexander Martynenko.
We remind you that in April the website of Reporters Without Borders was blocked in Russia due to “fake news”.
