The OP leader told Pope Francis about the philosophy of the Peace Formula. The upcoming Peace Summit was also discussed.
Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak met with Pope Francis and discussed with him the preparations for the Peace Summit in Switzerland. He announced this on Telegram on Saturday, June 8.
“During a work visit to Italy, his holiness was received by Pope Francis at the Vatican. It was an important conversation, where I informed his holiness about the philosophy of President Vladimir Zelensky’s Peace Formula, and said why the Only formula offers the path to a just world They also talked about the preparations for the international Peace Summit, which will take place in Switzerland,” wrote Ermak.
Separately, the parties discussed the issue of the return of Ukrainian children deported by the Russian Federation.
According to Ermak, Pope Francis expressed his support for Ukraine.
The head of the OP also met with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. The cardinal’s participation in the Global Peace Summit and the role of the Vatican in the implementation of the humanitarian points of the Peace Formula were discussed.
“I informed the Cardinal in detail about the approaches of the Ukrainian side to the implementation of the Summit in Switzerland and the destructive actions of the Russian Federation aimed at disrupting the event,” said Ermak and noted the importance of the cardinal’s upcoming visit to Ukraine.
In this regard, Parolin agreed with the need to improve the mechanism for the return of Ukrainian children and prisoners.
Let’s remember that the Pope has made repeated statements about the war in Ukraine. In March, Francis said Ukraine “must have the courage to raise the white flag.” His words caused great resonance both in our country and around the world.
Later, the press service of the Holy See explained that the Pope did not mean surrender, but a return to negotiations.
