Dmitry Peskov was forced to say that Emmanuel Macron shows “full support” for Ukraine.
Russia considers French President Emanuel Macron’s statements about the war in Ukraine to be “provocative”. This statement was made by Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov at a briefing on Friday, June 7.
“We consider these statements very, very provocative, which increase the tension on the continent and do not contribute to anything positive,” he said.
Peskov was forced to say that Macron shows “full support” for Ukraine, and “also expressed the readiness of the direct participation of the French Republic in a military conflict.”
According to Peskov, the French president’s statements are of particular importance, “given that France is a member of NATO, a member of the European Union, and a major European state.”
At the same time, Peskov did not know whether Vladimir Putin was familiar with Macron’s latest statements on the subject of the war in Ukraine, because yesterday he “ended the Russian-Zimbabwean negotiations after midnight.”
Earlier, Emmanuel Macron named the condition for European security. He said Europeans are facing a Russia “with a power that has lost its restraint and no longer wants to tell us what its limits are.” Also, the French President did not rule out sending troops to Ukraine.
And a day before it became known that France will transfer Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine as part of military aid.
