The labor shortage in Ukraine is felt among drivers of trucks, buses or even tractors, as well as law enforcement officers.
As a result of the labor shortage caused by the mobilization, Ukraine needs to reorient women to “male” professions, because the state does not have enough workers. This was stated by the Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko on Thursday, June 6, in a meeting with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso, reports the Ministry of Economy.
“The mobilization of specialists in the Armed Forces has become a challenge for the Ukrainian economy, therefore, now it is necessary to pay attention to programs for retraining the remaining Ukrainians in professions above all, we talking about women who have already mastered the professions of bodyguards, truck, bus and tractor drivers,” Sviridenko explained.
The minister emphasized that the retraining of specialists, along with the employment of veterans, are the main challenges for the government in the labor market.
He added that the EBRD will consider the possibility of financial support for the implementation of relevant retraining programs from the state and from Ukrainian business.
The lack of personnel in the labor market is intensifying: vacancies are increasing, the number of applicants is decreasing, so the competition continues to fall.
