American President Joe Biden said that he does not rule out the possibility that “US military force will be used.” He also noted that there is a difference between ground deployments, air force deployments, and naval deployments. Biden said this in an interview with Time.
The deployment of American troops on the island of Taiwan, he said, will “depend on the circumstances.”
I made it clear to Xi Jinping that we agree with the policy of previous presidents that we do not seek independence for Taiwan and will not defend Taiwan if China unilaterally tries to change its status. That’s why we continue to supply capacity. And we are consulting with our allies in the region,” Biden said.
Let us remember that in his New Year’s address, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said that the “reunification” of China with Taiwan is inevitable, and promised US President Joe Biden to annex the island supposedly peacefully. US intelligence believes Xi has ordered the military to be prepared for a possible forceful takeover of Taiwan by 2027.
