The Verkhovna Rada today, June 4, with the votes of 236 people’s representatives, adopted in the second reading Law No. 9432 on the use of the English language in Ukraine.

People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this on his Telegram channel.
This law:
- consolidates the status of English as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine;
- determines categories of positions for which candidates are required to speak English;
- normalizes the specifics of using English in the work of government bodies, local governments, in the fields of education, culture, transport, healthcare, etc.
There was a discussion on amendment No. 336 (introduced the day before the adoption of the law), providing for budgetary support for cinemas for showing English-language films. It was supported (226), Zheleznyak noted.
