The driver of a Mercedes Sprinter minibus lost control and caused the vehicle to overturn.
In the Vinnytsia region, near the village of Kunka, Gaysinsky district, a minibus with 17 children and five adults was involved in an accident. Five teenagers and two adults were injured, the National Police reported on Tuesday, June 4.
It was learned that the accident happened around 00:40 at night. Inside the minibus were 17 children aged 7 to 17 years old and five adults. The group is returning from an excursion.
“The 46-year-old driver of a Mercedes Sprinter minibus, engaged in irregular passenger transportation, lost control and caused the vehicle to overturn,” the report said.
Seven passengers, of whom five were teenagers aged 16 and 17, sought medical help, one of whom was hospitalized. The other participants in the accident were given medical aid and released to go home.
The driver is sober. The vehicle was placed in the impound area.
Based on the fact of the accident, criminal proceedings are initiated under the article on violation of road safety rules or transport operation by persons driving vehicles (Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Such an offense is punishable by up to 3 years of restriction of liberty with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
