China may benefit from Peace Summit in Ukraine, but it helps Russia, State Department spokesman says.
The United States supports the Peace Summit in Ukraine, but does not see how China can help its success, having refused to participate in the event due to Russia’s non-invitation. This was said by US State Department Speaker Matthew Miller, Voice of America wrote.
“China can play a useful diplomatic role in resolving this conflict if it wants to. But it is now difficult to see how they will play such a role, given the actions China has taken in recent months to rebuild and rebuild the defense industrial base of Russia “, – he said.
Miller noted that the United States plans to continue explaining to China its displeasure with such actions. States also plan to bring those involved in this organization to justice.
As for the Peace Summit itself, the representative of the State Department emphasized that the United States supports Ukraine’s diplomatic efforts and hopes that the event will be successful.
“We support the peace summit, we want it to be successful, and that’s why you see the Vice President of the United States personally present at this summit. We support the diplomatic efforts of Ukraine,” Miller said.
We remind you that on June 15-16 the Peace Summit will be held in Switzerland, which will consider some issues related to Russia’s war against Ukraine. Currently, Kyiv has confirmation from 106 countries and organizations for participation.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that Russia and China are trying to undermine the peace summit. In this regard, China said that it never “fanned the fire or fed the fire” of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Earlier, China confirmed that it will not participate in the Peace Summit, as its requests for the participation of the Russian Federation were not considered.
